Shiraz K. Patel, MD

Dr. Shiraz Patel is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and was nationally recognized as one of the Top 70 Hip Surgeons in the United States by Becker’s Orthopedic Review (2011). He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association, Kentucky Medical Association, and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He was honored as a Kentucky Colonel in 2016 for community service.

Dr. Patel is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and medical school at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. In 1998, he finished his orthopedic surgery residency at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. 

Dr. Patel completed a fellowship in adult joint reconstruction and trauma in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His primary focus is on minimally invasive hip and knee replacements. He specializes in anterior supine hip replacements, a new technology he brought to this region in 2007. His fellowship training makes him one of the few doctors who can treat complex total knee and hip revisions with robotic and computer navigated technology.

Dr. Patel has been the Paducah Sun Reader’s Choice Award recipient for Best Orthopedic Surgeon in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. His enthusiasm for restoring a person’s function and relieving pain is evident through his compassionate interaction with his patients.
